Inoorero University held the Mapping developers training on 27th March 2013 at the University.
The event was sponsored by MapIt, which is a mapping company based in South Africa.

The mapIT Developers Day was hosted in Nairobi on Monday, March 25, 2013 after a successful mapIT Developers Day held last year in October 2012. The event was hosted in association with mapIT’s Kenyan partner, Integrat – a leading mobile aggregation services provider. The mapping company is looking at expanding their service offering across Africa.

The one-day training had two sessions with a total of 42 students who were encouraged to come up with an application and share it with the MapIT team in order to assist the students in sharpening their skills and also implementing their ideas.

At the end of the training the participant were asked to develop an application that uses Maps where Simon Munene Muraguri, a third year Bachelor of Information Technology (BICT) student at IU was awarded a Tomtom gadget (used for navigation purposes) while Alex Kabiru was the first runners-up for this event.

Munene developed an airplane animation to demonstrate its movement from one point to another for instance from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to Moi International Airport and vice versa.
